About Me
My name is Larry Jones. I graduated from East Carolina University with a BS degree in Elementary Education then later with an MSA degree in School Administration. I am currently in the final year of my Ed.D. degree in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to being licensed for Elementary K-6, I am also licensed to teach Reading K-12, Social Studies 6-12, Special Education, and English as a Second Language. Before coming to the wonderful Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, FL, all of my experience had been in North Carolina. In NC I spent the majority of my time teaching as a 4th grade teacher, but have also worked with kindergarten, 2nd grade, and as an assistant principal in the high school and elementary levels. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with 3rd grade students this year as 3rd is such a critical grade and I am set on helping them obtain all of the necessary tools and skills that they will need to be successful in the future.
As a teacher, it is my top priority to make sure that the students who are in my care feel safe and are set up to learn at their fullest potential. This involves cooperation among the teacher, the students, the whole school, and the community.
It is my goal to work with all stakeholders to make sure that we are supporting our students in the best ways possible so that they will go on to be successful in the future. I believe in open communication and am always willing to listen to your concerns or to just take time to talk about what is going on in class.
Education is my passion and I believe that all children have the right to high quality instruction. I always do everything in my power to make sure that the students in my care are excited about learning and better prepared for their future endeavors.
